WhatsApp Introduces Multiple Message Pinning Feature
Finding important information buried in chat threads can be a hassle. To address this, WhatsApp has introduced a new update that allows users to pin multiple messages in chats, making it easier to access crucial details.
Pinning Messages for Quick Reference:
Previously, users could only pin a single message in a conversation. Now, you can pin up to three messages, including text, images, or even polls, to the top of the chat. These pinned messages stay readily accessible as banners for your chosen duration: 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.
The most recently pinned message appears first, and you can easily swipe through them by tapping on the banner.

Here's how to pin a message:
- Open the WhatsApp chat containing the message you want to pin.
- Tap and hold the desired message.
- Select "Pin" from the menu that appears.
- Choose the duration for which you want the message pinned (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days).
The process is slightly different depending on whether you're using an Android, iPhone, or the web/desktop version:
- Android: Tap and hold > "More options" > "Pin" > choose duration > "Pin."
- iPhone: Tap and hold > "More options" > "Pin" > choose duration.
- Web/Desktop: Click the menu icon > "Pin message" > choose duration > "Pin."
You can unpin a message at any time, and pinned messages will automatically unpin after the chosen duration expires.
Group Chat Pinning and Considerations:
In group chats, admins now have the ability to allow members to pin messages. When a message is pinned, a system notification informs everyone in the group chat, along with the name of the person who pinned it.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Users joining a group after a message is pinned won't see it.
- Those who have lost or cleared their chat history, or deleted the message before it was pinned, also won't be able to view it.
- Messages cannot be pinned indefinitely. The maximum duration is 30 days, after which you'll need to re-pin if you want to keep it easily accessible.
For messages like addresses that you might need for longer periods, consider using the "star" feature to bookmark them for later reference.

The ability to pin multiple messages is a welcome addition for users who frequently need to access specific information within chats.
