Google Introduces New Layout Editor Tool in Gmail
Say goodbye to generic email templates! Google has introduced a
powerful new layout editor tool within Gmail and Drive. This user-friendly
feature empowers you to create fully customized email layouts for professional
announcements, newsletters, and more.
Enhanced Email Creation Experience:
In 2022, Google introduced pre-designed email layouts to streamline the
creation of professional-looking emails. These templates offered basic
customization options like adding logos, colors, and images. Google expanded
on this functionality in 2023 by allowing users to modify existing templates,
reuse custom layouts, and even build layouts from scratch (for Workspace
Individual users).

Taking email personalization to a whole new level, the layout editor grants
users across various Google Workspace editions the ability to design custom
email layouts directly within Gmail's compose window or Google Drive. Here's
what you can expect:
- Create from Scratch or Use Templates: Design layouts entirely from scratch or leverage a library of pre-built email templates containing elements like text boxes, images, and buttons.
- Complete Customization: Unleash your creativity and personalize every aspect of your layout. This includes customizing color schemes, adding logos, incorporating images, editing footer text, and inserting links or buttons.
- Real-Time Collaboration: Share your layout with other users and enable them to edit it in real-time within their Gmail or Drive platform.
Availability and Rollout:
This exciting feature is turned on by default for admins and can be enabled
for end users within Gmail and Drive. The rollout plan is as follows:
Embedded Layout Editor in Gmail Compose Window:
- Rapid Release: Begins March 12, 2024
- Scheduled Release: Begins April 8, 2024
Full-Screen Layout Editor and Drive Availability:
- Rapid Release: Begins March 25, 2024
- Scheduled Release: Begins April 15, 2024
