Vivo X Fold 3 Receives 3C Certification, Hints at 80W Charging Support

The upcoming Vivo X Fold 3 foldable smartphone has recently received its 3C certification in China, hinting at an imminent launch. This follows the certification of the Pro variant, the X Fold 3 Pro, last month. Both phones are expected to arrive later this month, potentially within the Chinese market first.

The 3C certification for the Vivo X Fold 3 (model number V2303A) suggests compatibility with a V8073L0E0-CN power adapter, which leads to speculation of up to 80W fast charging support. This is in contrast to the X Fold 3 Pro (model number V2337A), which was previously spotted with a 120W charger in its 3C listing. The Pro model is also rumored to support 50W wireless charging, while the standard X Fold 3 might lack this feature.

Based on reports, the Vivo X Fold 3 might come equipped with a 5,600mAh battery, while the Pro variant could boast a slightly larger 5,700mAh battery. The two phones are also expected to be powered by different processors, with the X Fold 3 featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and the X Fold 3 Pro utilizing the more advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The exact display sizes of the Vivo X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro remain unknown. However, leaks suggest that both phones will share identical resolutions for their internal displays (2480 x 2200 pixels) and external displays (1080 x 2520 pixels). The Pro variant is expected to feature ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanners on both the main and cover displays. It's unclear whether the standard X Fold 3 will adopt this technology or retain a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for cost-effectiveness.

Both phones are expected to share a similar rear camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50H main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. However, there might be a difference in the telephoto camera. The X Fold 3 is rumored to have a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 40x zoom, while the X Fold 3 Pro might sport a more advanced 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto lens.
