Apple's New iPad Pro Gets OLED Display and M3 Chip, Launch Expected in May
Tech giant Apple is gearing up to launch new iPad models, specifically
upgraded versions of the iPad Pro and iPad Air, according to a report from
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The launch is anticipated for early May, following a
slight delay from the initially planned March or April release window.
Significant Upgrades for the iPad Pro:
The iPad Pro is set for a major makeover, boasting an all-new OLED screen, a
sleek redesigned look, and the powerful M3 chip. It will also come with
revamped versions of the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, marking the first
significant overhaul for these accessories since 2018. These upgrades solidify
the iPad Pro's position as Apple's top-tier tablet offering.
Improved Performance for the iPad Air:
The iPad Air, last updated in 2022, will receive a processor upgrade, offering
a performance boost. It will also be available in both 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch
screen sizes, providing users with a choice between portability and screen
real estate at a more affordable price point compared to the iPad Pro.
Software Delays and Rekindling Tablet Demand:
Gurman reports that Apple pushed back the launch date due to finalizing the
software and overcoming complexities in screen manufacturing. These new
models, featuring faster processors and redesigned accessories, aim to
reignite consumer interest in tablets after a year and a half since the last
iPad update.
Upcoming Software Unveiling at WWDC:
The early May release precedes Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC)
scheduled for June 10th. At WWDC, Apple is expected to unveil upcoming
software updates for various platforms, including iPadOS 18, macOS 18, watchOS
11, tvOS 18, and the highly anticipated Vision Pro headset.
