Good News for Galaxy Users: One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI Arrives on Older Flagships!

Samsung recently announced that select Galaxy smartphones from 2021 and 2022 will be getting the One UI 6.1 update, along with some exciting Galaxy AI features. This comes as a relief to many users who were worried these devices might miss out on the latest AI functionalities.

Limited AI for 2021 Devices:

There is a slight difference in what features each generation receives. The 2021 flagships, including the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3, will get a taste of Galaxy AI with a limited set of features. These include Circle Search, a feature that lets you search for information by drawing a circle around an image or text on the screen, and Chat Assist, a tool that helps you adjust the tone and style of your messages in the Samsung Keyboard.

Wider Range of AI for 2022 Flagships:

The 2022 flagships, which include the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 series, are in for a bigger treat. They will receive a wider range of Galaxy AI features, allowing them to experience the full potential of Samsung's AI technology. However, there's one exception: the Instant Slow-mo feature, which lets you slow down videos by holding down the screen, won't be available on these devices due to hardware limitations.

Here's a quick recap of the devices getting the update:

2021 Flagships (Limited Features):

  • Galaxy S21 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Galaxy Z Flip 3

2022 Flagships:

  • Galaxy S22 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Tab S8 series

Update Rollout Schedule:

The update is expected to begin rolling out in early May, though this timeframe might apply specifically to the Korean market. Samsung hasn't revealed a global rollout schedule yet, so users in other regions might see the update arrive a bit later.

This update brings exciting new features to older Galaxy devices, making them more capable and user-friendly. Stay tuned for more information on the global rollout schedule!
